The following was a submitted press release to Wyopreps.com from Chadron State....
Because of the weather, the schedule has been changed for the Chadron State College rodeo in Crawford this weekend.
Shar Sapp, the CSC rodeo coach, said no performances or slack will take place Friday. The action will begin at 9:00AM Saturday. Another session will begin at 6:00PM Saturday.
The rodeo will resume at 8:00 Sunday morning. Another performance is set for noon Sunday, and the finals will start at 6:00PM Sunday night.
Sapp said the safety of the cowboys and cowgirls is the main reason for the changes. She noted that while the moisture that is falling is a blessing for the area, it has made the Crawford arena "a mess" and potentially dangerous for the contestants. The forecast calls for precipitation to end on Friday and for sunnday and warmer conditions on Saturday.
Approximately 300 contestants from schools in Colorado, Wyoming, and Chadron State are entered in the rodeo.
