Trevor Wilson doubled his home run output for the season in Lander Wednesday night. The two time All Stater hit a pair of home runs in each of the Raiders wins over the Worland/Lander team. He has eight homers for the year. One of them was a bomb that coach Chris Jones said might have cleared the river that runs past left field. In all the Raiders hit five home runs as Tyler Larsen got his first of the season as well.
Riverton won the first game 8 to 2 while taking the night cap 15 to 6. After three kids quit the team on Tuesday, Riverton took only 10 kids to Lander with one on vacation.
Game 1 Riverton 8 WorLander 2
WorLander scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning against Jarron Monroe. After that frame, though, he shut the door pitching all seven innings allowing those two runs on just two hits and striking out 11. He allowed only two walks as well.
Riverton had nine hits, two of which were dingers by Wilson.
Game 2 Riverton 15 WorLander 6
The Raiders were on the verge of ending the night early getting up 12 to 2 into the bottom of the fifth. They were three outs from the mercy rule until WorLander scored four times in the bottom of the fifth to prolong the game. Riverton would get three back but it ended up going all seven innings with Riverton winning 15 to 6.
Wilson hit two more home runs while Larsen added his first of the year. Larsen also got the complete game win on the mound allowing 6 hits 3 walks and 8 strike outs.
Riverton pounded out 17 hits. Coach Jones singled out Dallas Olson's hitting for the night along with Isaac Hermann and of course the Wilson home run clinic.
Riverton is now 13-13 on the season and have won three of their last four games. They'll travel to Jackson for a double header at 3 and 5 on Thursday before taking the holiday weekend off. They return to play on the home field on Monday against a very tough Powell Pioneer team.
