Post 6 Hosts Mickey Powers Tournament

Cheyenne Post 6 Legion Baseball hosted the annual Mickey Powers Tournament in Cheyenne July 10-13th.

Teams invited to compete against Post 6 included Gillette, Monarch, Greeley, Creighton Prep, and Lincoln SW.

Each team played four times in the first three days. Post 6 went 2-2 with four very close finishes.

They would play the night cap on Thursday and edge Lincoln Southwest 10-9. Cheyenne got a huge 6-run 6th to get the win, Kinzor Hoover got the win in a relief effort.

Friday Post 6 fall in two games Friday. Losing in game on to Monarch 3-4. Cheyenne scored one in the first, third, and fifth innings. Monarch scored twice in the third, once in the fourth, and then one more in the sixth that proved to be the game winner. Brandon Nimmo went 3-4 at the plate.

Game two saw Creighton Prep knock off Cheyenne 5-2. Cheyenne could muster only four hits in the game and couldn't find the scoreboard late. Post 6 scored both of their runs in the first two innings.

Saturday Post 6 edged the Greely GOJOS 10-9 behind 8 hits. Chris Nadon picked up the win in relief for Ty Lain who went 5.1 innings. Nadon pitched 1.2 innings and gave up no hits and no runs. David Lazarus went 3-3 at the plate and drove in 4 runs for Post 6.

Finally on Sunday afternoon both Wyoming teams met as Post 6 went up against Gillette. Cheyenne would win 8-7 in 8 innings. Post 6 had four runs in the second, three in the seventh, and the game winner in the eight. David Lazerus would hit a sac fly to bring in Nick Colbert.

Mike Moore got the win for Cheyenne pitching the last two innings. Luke Haugh started the game going 4.2 innings. Ryan Hutchison started for Gillette and went 6 innings with no decision.

Moore also went 2-3 at the plate for Cheyenne. Seth Means was 3-4 for Gillette.
