Powell avenged a pair of losses last Saturday in Laramie to the host Rangers by sweeping Laramie in Powell 12-2 and 18-1 in a pair of games shortened by the ten run rule.
In game 1, Laramie struck for one run in the first to take the early lead. Powell would answer back with 3 runs in the second and eight more in the fourth before Laramie would score again. Nathan Carter hit a solo homer for the Rangers in the top of the fifth to force Powell to bat in the bottom of the inning. Auston Carter ended the game with an RBI single driving in Grant Geiser who singled earlier.
Geiser went the distance on the mound for the Pioneers giving up 6 hits and striking out five while not walking a batter. Brandon Sullivan was two for three at the plate driving in three runs for Powell.
In game 2, Laramie again struck first with a single run in the first. Powell countered with one run in the first, 12 runs in the third and five more in the fourth while blanking the Rangers over the final four innings. Trevor Donarski was
3-4 with 2 RBI's while scoring three times, Scotty Jameson was 2-3 while knocking in four runs and scoring three himself, Gianluca Giarrizzo was 4-5 with three RBI's and scoring three runs and Grant Geiser was 2-4 with a double off the left field fence.
Skylar Borders pitched the complete game for Powell picking up his second win against no losses. He gave up three hits, struck out three, walked one and hit one.
Powell improves to 8-5 for the year while Laramie drops to 3-6 for the season.
