The 35th annual Shrine Bowl was held in Casper Saturday evening to see the North squad edge the South 16-10 in a very competative game.

The South team found the endzone first scoring 6 minutes and 58 seconds into the ballgame from a Kyle Crandall 1 yard run. Crandall, the Evanston graduate, played all but two snaps under center for the South offense. A 23 yard gain on the ground by Rock Spring's Drew Rollins set up the score. Jordan Abrams of Star Valley added the PAT to put the south up 7-0.

That 7-0 South lead would hold until the 12:36 mark in the second quarter. A 44 yard field goal from Stephen Pyer of Worland got North on the board. A 54 yard screen pass to Riverside's Casey Garnhart set up the kick. With just :50 seconds remaining in the first half the North took their first lead of the ballgame thanks to 5 yard pass on first and goal from Tongue River's Rob Johnson to Trevor Feusner of Cody. The 10-7 North lead was erased just :40 seconds of game time later thanks to a record setting field goal from Jordan Abrams. Abrams kicked a 48 yarder which broke a 28 year old record. The play was set up on a 43 yard pass from Kyle Crandall to Brock Hayden of Cheyenne Central.

Defensively in the first half, Zach Johnson of Kelly Walsh came up big with an interception in the first quarter with :42 seconds on the clock and had a fumble recovery at the 10:35 minute mark of the second quarter. Both teams went into the locker room at 10's.

There was no scoring in the third quarter, but North put together a drive that took seven minutes off the clock together and scored four seconds into the fourth quarter. Quarterback Rob Johnson took a one yard QB sneak into the endzone on third down. The PAT was no good and put North up 16-10. After the score it was the North defense time to hold, Ray Moore from Sundance came up with an interception to end a drive at the 9:31 mark. Zach Johnson notched his second interception of the game with 5:34 remaining as well.

Near the end of the ballgame the media in attendance voted Rob Johnson of Tongue River the offensive player of the game and Zach Johnson of Kelly Walsh the defensive player of the game.
