The Montana all-star girls basketball team took game one of two Friday night in Sheridan.
Montana would build a 10 point lead early in the ballgame and hold on for nearly the entire way. The neighbors to the north held a 19-9 lead after the first period. Montana took a one point advantage after the second quarter to lead 35-24 as both teams headed into the locker rooms.
Things went back and forth in the third quarter, but again Montana would build another one point advantage leading 52-40 after three. Then the tide would turn and in a big way, an improbable comeback from Wyoming gave them their first lead of the ballgame with 4:30 remaining. There were five lead changes in the last 4:00 of the ballgame, but thanks to a layup from Montana's Tillman with :02 seconds left the scoreboard showed a pair of 67's to end regulation.
The overtime period was all Montana, out-scoring Wyo 12-3. Poor shooting and foul trouble would spell the difference in the game. Wyoming finsihed the game with just four ladies on the floor for the last :03 seconds.
Wyoming was lead in scoring by Lander's Dani White off the bench with 17 points. Home town favorite Laura Quist of Sheridan had 13 points. Future Wyoming Cowgirls and Lovell Lady Bulldog graduate Kristin Scheffler had 11 points.
