The scoreboard told the story on a great day of weather for Friday's performance at State Track and Field.

Pole Vault lovers got a treat on Friday. Cheyenne East's Justin Gebicki and Cody's Alisha Reaser put on a show.

Vaulting on opposite sides of Harry Geldien Stadium, the pair broke records in the respective gender and class just minutes apart.

Reaser went 11-06 and is only an inch shy of the overall State Record set by Anya Wechsler of 4A Sheridan. Reaser's toughest competition came from teammates Anna Bales, who is just a Freshman, and Besty Whisonant, a junior, who both went out at 11-00. The previous 3A mark was set by Christina McKamey of Worland in 1998.

Gebicki set the 4A and overall state mark at 16-00.25. He's just a quarter inch better than Ben Peterson of Cody who set the standard back when the Broncs were in 4A in 2006.

Laramie sprinter Stephen Michael blazed to a 100 meter record in the preliminaries. His time of 10.5 beat the 10.75 of Lee Vaughn who starred for the Wyoming and Dallas Cowboy football teams. Vaughn set his mark in 1993. Michael now has the finals to even lower that time.

Gillette's Emily Moore and Kelly Walsh's Jordan Merback had a great battle in the triple jump. Moore put out a jump early that stood up till Merback's last hop-skip-jump. The Lady Trojan went 38-07.75. The Lady Camel, who just happens to hold the overall state record in that event, had one more leap. Emily came up just a half inch short and finished second.

3A

Torrington Junior Diana Long used Friday as record breaking ground. Long broke her own 2007 record in the 3A 300 meter hurdles of 44.25 with a time of 43.75. She has the finals, now, to go after the overall record set by Shauna Smith of Sheridan.

Long then teamed up with Amber Sims, Lindsey Simmons, and Tabith Smith in winning the 4 by 100 relay. Three of the four were on the record holding team from last year's race. Sims, just a freshman, was the newcomer to the event. They only broke the mark by 4/100th's of a second.

Cody's boys broke the 4 by 100 mark in 3A. The Bronc foursome of Landon Blanchard, Reed Gifford, Alex Gwinn, and Kegan Lassiter beat a record set by Lander in 2004 by 3/100th's of a second.

2A

Lingle's Candace Wollert ran the 2A 800 meters in record breaking fashion. The only problem was that Amber Henry edged her out at the tape and won the race by 6/100th's of a second. Henry now holds the record in 2A and in 3A where she won it last year when her school was in the higher division.

Cody Emrick beat one of the longest standing records on the books. The Sundance Senior broke a record set back in 1981 by Mike Johnson of Southeast. Johnson's time was 1:56.92. Emrick was 1:56.28.

1A

Dubois Senior Lindsay Copeland ran tough on Friday. She takes the #1 time in four different events into Saturday's finals. She is tops in the 100, 200, the 100 hurdles and the 300 Hurdles.

Check out this Friday PHOTO GALLERY .... look for more after Saturday's Finals.
