As is the case most years, there will be several new coaches roaming the sidelines of Fremont County sports next year. There will three new volleyball coaches and four new in football.
After filling his football vacancy, Riverton Activities Director Keith Bauder talks about a couple of other openings at RHS. He is looking for a new head volleyball coach and a head tennis coach.
Tiffany Weber has been the coach the past few seasons but Bauder says there will be a change after her resignation.
There are also a few assistant positions open at the high school and middle school at Riverton.
Football coaches in the county may have to wear name tags next season. Of the six positions in the county, four will have new coaches.
Lander approved Tuesday night the hiring of Doug Hughes. He has been an assistant to Steve Simpson the past three years after 11 years of head coaching at Belle Fourche, South Dakota. The Lady Tigers are looking for a head volleyball coach after Philip Hanamakai resigned and left the district at semester.
Wind River is looking for a new football coach after Tyler Jordan resigned to take a teaching position in Riverton. The Cougars could look with in to fill the vacancy with one of Jordan’s assistants.
Wyoming Indian saw James Blare submit his resignation near the end of last year’s memorable season. There hasn’t been a recommendation from the AD Tom Rodgers but it is expected that Blake Seeds will be the coach. Seeds was a volunteer assistant for the Chiefs last season.
Shoshoni is looking for a new basketball coach. Rick Reid was not re-appointed as the Wrangler boys coach. He will still be a part of the staff as officials look to fill the vacancy from within the district. The Wranglers are also looking for a head volleyball coach. Steve Wadsworth resigned two years ago and reappointed to the position. He asked to be removed from the post this year again and it will be honored.
